Air checks are usually tedious, only a bit more fun than dental surgery. But they don’t have to be. It takes time, commitment and creativity-just like a great radio show. As station resources fall victim to budget cuts, keeping the production value fresh and exciting is an ongoing challenge. Make it a priority to air check imaging on a regular basis.

At most stations, even in larger markets, responsibility falls on the air talent to keep production updated. And because everyone is busy, imaging slips down the list of priorities.

Stations should review and update produced elements on a regular basis. It’s an important way to keep your show sounding fresh and contemporary. But because the re is no urgency to replace production that is working just fine, this become an often-overlooked area.
