Snakes. Clowns. Getting stuck in an elevator. Rank them from scariest to least scary.
Now defend your ranking to your co-hosts, who are absolutely certain that you’re lying about the clowns.
Your Worst Nightmare is a character-revealing game about fear. A contestant ranks three scary situations from most to least terrifying, while the rest of the cast tries to predict the order. It’s kind of like Would You Rather, but every option is something that scares you. It can be played anytime, but it’s a perfect fit for the week leading up to Halloween, and a natural part of 13 Days of Halloween.
Before you begin, review the guidelines in the Game Strategy section and choose the best method to play.
Uncover What Really Scares Your Cast With Your Worst Nightmare
Fear is personal, and personal is powerful. When a cast member admits they’re more afraid of clowns than of heights, listeners learn something real about them. When they explain why (“There was a clown at my fifth birthday party, and I’ve never recovered”), a character comes to life.
The prediction element adds a second layer. When co-hosts guess the order and get it wrong, the arguments begin. “You told me you love snakes!” “I said I love Snakes on a Plane.” That friction is where the entertainment lives. Used well, this game enhances character traits for every player.
How to Play
- Choose a contestant. A cast member works best, but listeners and guests can play too.
- Present three scary situations. Read them clearly.
- The cast predicts. Before the contestant answers, the other cast members predict the order.
- The contestant ranks them. Scariest to least scary, with a reason for each.
- Score the predictions. A point for each correct placement. Crown the cast member who knows the contestant best.
