Local Programming

Ask The Experts Question: How Hyper-Local Should I Be?

Question for Ask The Experts:

In your seminar about local content additives (Content Additives Seminar…part of the Localize-Maximize-Monetize series), you encouraged personalities and programmers to be micro-local. If I talk about very small communities or landmarks, doesn’t that eliminate most of my audience? What am I missing here?

Answer: Great question—and it’s a common concern. But here’s the key: You’re not building your content around micro-local references. You’re seasoning your content with them, like a chef sprinkling just the right spice to give a dish that “hometown” flavor.
