Many stations do a public service by publicizing the need for adopting from a shelter. It’s a great cause, particularly if you have a pet lover on your show. But when you frame it as the 12 Strays of Christmas, it can really stand out.

There’s a big caveat, though. Talking about pet adoption can sound horrible on the air because the audience is blind. It’s not that interesting to hear radio personalities describing a pet. And when the representative from the humane society is on talking about the pet, it’s usually a major tune out.

But this idea that can get more credit, find a home for more pets and not take a lot of air time. Sounds like a win-win, doesn’t it?
