Broadcasters seem to think a show starts when assigned to be on-air, which is why the first segment is often poorly prepared, sloppy, and focused on the talent, not the audience. But that’s not how listeners use the radio. They don’t listen in a linear fashion, the way you would watch a movie or read a book. For them, the “show” starts when they first turn it on and ends when they turn it off. The user experience is all that matters.
