The Shot Clock Is Ticking

In basketball, the team with the ball has 24 seconds to move forward and take a shot. They must set up a play and keep moving forward, or the shot clock expires, and the team loses the ball. The play must be executed precisely to give the team the best chance of scoring points. They can’t just toss the ball toward the basket and hope for the best. Nor can they keep passing it back and forth, waiting for something good to happen. The shot clock is ticking. This has a direct application for storytellers.
