There’s a curious blind spot among some programmers and personalities when it comes to group contests. Despite the results, some still treat them like second-class promotions—half-heartedly checking the boxes while grumbling that “listeners only care about local contests.” Some even go so far as to complain, “Oh, yeah, we have to do this collective contest for six weeks, but after that, we will get some of our time back.” Spoiler: Listeners don’t care if it’s a local contest or a group contest, and the data backs it up.
It’s time to rethink how we treat group contesting. It’s an opportunity, not an obligation forced down your throat.
